On March 9th, 1999, over 30 people gathered at a coffee house in Van Alstyne, Texas for a live, acoustic jam. That night the Red River Acoustic Music Society (or RRAMS) was born.
Over the past few years the RRAMS have met in Van Alstyne for a couple of hours of acoustic music, fun, and fellowship once a week. Our tastes are eclectic and range through folk, blues, bluegrass, acoustic rock, jazz, and alt-country. In short, if you can play it without an amplifier, we're glad to hear it and play along. (Not that we have anything against amplified music, but we don't always have electrical outlets handy....)
WHEN? Currently we're meeting on Thursday nights.
WHERE? We're trying out a new venue - Kathy's Cafe in Downtown Van Alstyne - across from the Fielder Park gazebo Click here for a map of the general area. We'll have our first gathering there on April 15th at 7:00 PM. It will be something of an anniversary celebration for us, so come and join us for the evening.
