Enemies First things first, in order to make friends you must first learn to love your enemies. As David's men said:
1 Samuel 24:4
... which the lord said to you, 'Behold I will give your enemy into your hand, for you to deal with as you wish.'
This simply states that you have a choice to fight your enemies or forgive them, but the choice is up to you. Matthew 5:43-48 also states:
...you have heard the statement, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But the Lord says to love thy enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your father in Heaven. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others?
To me that says to love my enemies and pray for them to love me too. Therefore, you must love your enemies so that they will love you back.
Friendship Let's check out some of the things the Lord
says about what friendship is. In Proverbs 17:17 the Lord says
that a friend loves at all times and a brother is born for adversity.
To me this means that a true friend will stick with you through
thick and thin. A true friend will also never talk bad about you
behind your back. If you keep looking you will find lots of friends
like that.
Forgiveness is also very important for making friends. In Ephesians 4:32 the Bible says, be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, as the Lord God forgave us. In this scripture they are saying to forgive and forget., as Jesus Christ did for us on the cross. So, when you forgive, people will forgive you, too.
Attitude In order to have a good friendship you must try
to have a good attitude towards your friends all of the time.
Discouragement is a very hard thing to deal with.
2 Corinthians 4:8-9
We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
This tells me that we are God's children and discouragement shouldn't
mean anything to us, so we should just ignore people that discourage
us and go on with our lives.
Embarrassment comes from people making fun of us. No matter
how embarrassed you are a true friend will never laugh at you
and will always stick up for you.
Goals We should always set goals for ourselves.
Philippians 3:12-14
Not that I have already obtained all of this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Set standards for yourself. Keep pushing yourself to achieve your
goals. Never give up on yourself.
God's Love Last, and most important, is God's love for
you.
Isaiah 49:15-16
Can a mother forget a baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.
Here the Lord is saying a mother might forget her child but the Lord will not ever forget us. Even if you don't realize it, the Lord has unconditional Love for you at all times through thick and thin. If it ever seems like you don't have a friend in the world, He will be there, because He loves you always.
