Bluesmen Doc's Come To Know

Kirby Kelley, Extraordinary Sideman

You can hear some of Kirby's lightin' riffs on Bugs Henderson's latest CD, "Four Tens Strike Again". Kirby can be heard all most every night somewhere in Dallas (Muddy Waters or Blue Cat Blues typically) or at the Blue Door in Sherman, Texas on Tuesday Evenings.
Kirby comes to Texas by way of Chicago, their loss, Texas's gain. Yepper, that is an Ibanez he be strumin''. Right again, he does allot of finger picking. You sighted enhanced individuals already noted the two slides.
If you get a chance to hear him in person don't miss out, it is more than a guy playin' the Blues, it is an experience. Besides, he is one of the genuine kind spirited guys. Simply Extraordinary.

What began three years ago as a "Company Party" gig turned into on of the hottest Blues Bands in the Huntsville, Alabama area. I have been listening to this band's tapes for a few years and time just improves what was all ready great. If you can't see them in person then grab one of their recordings;
"Blues Vision - Collected Studio Recordings"
"Blues Vision Unplugged (Studio)";
"Blues Live at the "Klatsch, Huntsville, AL, 4/19/97"
If you local record dealer does not have a copy, then leave me a message and I will get you hooked in with the distributor. Hell the price is cheaper anyway. Oh, by the way, I think the female singer has a killer big time voice, but you be the final judge.

Now this is a definite motley collection of Blues Players. This is a picture of the Sherman, Texas, Famous '95 News Eve Jam I (don't know if there will ever be a II). Are all these guys hitin' the same chord? It really didn't matter, a bass (not pictured) and a drummer (he is there but gazing in bewilderment) and five guitars can cover up anything. I am happy to report all survived the night. Two of the guitar players have formed a band, another two guitar players wish they were in a band, the other guitar player is somewhere learning more about the Blues. The bass player is still not pictured and the gaze from the drummer has not left him to this day. What a night!!!!
