We met in December '57 and were married the following August. Georgia was eighteen and I was barely twenty two; not the recommended ages , nor did we know each other long enough, according to today's "experts". But that was over forty years ago, and what did we know? The more I think about it, I was real lucky. There was only one of her in the whole world, and I found her.

In '68 we moved from the Chicago area to a suburb of Dallas, Texas. We, by now, meaning the two of us plus four sons and a daughter. After the winter of 1967 when we could walk up a snow drift and find ourselves on the roof of the house, it was time to leave.

'74 was the year we bought some land in the country, fifty miles north of Dallas and five miles outside of a small town of about 2,000 where we built our own home. In 1989, there being just Georgia and I once again, we built a smaller home on some of the original land. Country living is great. It's been over twenty six years since anyone has reported that my dog pissed on their flowers!

I took early retirement from AT&T in 1984, after thirty years. Watching what had been a great company turn into just another bunch of hucksters after their "fair share" of the consumers dollars, which is what deregulation of the telephone business brought about, was not a nice experience. I spent the next sixteen years working for various new communications companies, as a partner in one and finally doing freelance work. In January 2000 I retired for real. I enjoy computers, the internet, genealogy, gardening, wood carving and doing nothing more with a telephone except talking on one; and doing that as little as possible. Georgia likes to sew, make quilts, work in her many flower beds and lots of other artistic projects.
