This is where we like to go........

So Hello to all our friends on the net...We live in the The Colony, Texas, in the USA, just north of Dallas.  Below are a few interesting links that we like. Patsy and Don are also in to ham radio and talk to people all over the world.

Patsy used to work in insurance, and has quite a few years in that field. Don has been into semiconductor materials characterization for a long time (electron microscopes and stuff) and  left Advanced Micro Devices in Austin in 1997 to work on other projects. At AMD Don established their semiconductor materials characterization facilities, the Process Characterization and Analysis Laboratories (electron microscopes and other interesting scientific stuff). They make the K6 chip in Austin, in Fab 25 where the lab is located. We moved in August, 1997,  back to the Dallas area after five years in Austin to work on some new projects on our own.  As of August 5, 2001, Don will be working for International Sematech, Austin, Texas as manager of their Materials Lab.  So its back to Austin! Patsy is into some art projects too.  Robert works in security and is completing college in electrical engineering.  He has returned to school recently at Collin County Community College in Plano, Texas.  Robert is going to stick around here in The Colony. So we now have two locations, The Colony and Austin.

Another part of our lives is amateur radio, as I said above...Patsy is KA5GPM and Don is WA5FQV. These are our call signs. We operate on the bands 80 - 10 meters, 2 meters and 220 MHz. using cw, ssb and digital radio techniques. We have a 60' tower in the back yard (the neighbors love it!). With ham radio you can talk to people all over the world....just like irc, but harder to do :) Amateur radio is lots of fun and can take up a lot of time and some money to get into. You can even build your own radio gear if you have the time and want to get into it that deeply.

Amateur Radio Operators Provide Emergency Service

We do like to travel and northern England, Scotland and Ireland are among the places that we have explored and like to go. The English lakes, as shown in the map above, are a great place to explore. Lakes, towns and the hills of Cumbria are all unmatched anywhere else in the world. The last time we were in Cumbria, we found an old Roman fort on a hill way out in the country in the hills that was very interesting. We will be adding more links showing pictures of England, Scotland and Ireland.

We are into family history, coins, travel, camping and other stuff also.

We spend time on #scotland on irc at times. Have a nice Day! This page is under construction, so we will be adding more to it as time goes on.
