- I have heard this song performed by various rock groups in my time,
but the one performance that has stuck in my memory was one by Alan Lomax,
Peter Seeger and two unknown vocalists . The setting was a club in Louisiana
at closing time. The only instruments used were a piano and brushes. The
main beauty was the vocals and harmony. I cannot duplicate the atmosphere
or come close to the feeling generated, if fact I tried the song in a a
couple of different formats. Just too see how bad I could really make the
song. (I have a tradition to uphold here) The first rendition if the prime
one I tried to get the feeling, once you here the hand clapping, your on
your own.
