The Archaic Period covered a time frame longer than the Paleo-Indian and Late Prehistoric Periods
combined. So it is not surprising that the vast majority of chipped stone artifacts come from the Archaic.
Lasting from about 8000 to 1200 years ago, the Archaic Period encompasses very many point types.
Several pictured on this page are not identified, and several may be mis-identified. Learning point
typology seems, at least for me, to be a long, slow process.

Sinkers. Left - sandstone - 1-7/8". Right - quartzite
Probably used as net weights
