Richard Deweese
Richard Deweese's full title is County Chairman of the Fannin County Republican Party. He ended up there by getting elected, but first he had to feel as though the party needed someone that would take this position and fill it. He went to register, paid his dues, and ended up the county chairman. When asked if he thought that he wanted to be the county chairman when he was young, he replied that he didn't want to, he originally wanted to do something in music. He also said that it kind of just happened. The quality that he feels is vital in all leaders is how to tell the difference between
right and wrong,
and to do what's right. Part of his job is getting everyone and everything together to perform a meeting of the county Republican Party, so that things can happen further up the ladder.
When one of the students asked what the Republicans originally stood for, Mr. Deweese said that they used to be a rich male party who was against the idea of women voting. The modern Republican stands for conservatives, and also believes in individual responsibility. He said that the original Democrat stood for the opposite of the original Republican. Richard Deweese said that the modern Democrat stands for a liberal society.
