Michael Burt

Brother Burt and his wife were living in Dumas, Texas, when they heard that an Assembly of God church needed a pastor. They felt that God was leading them to go to the Assembly of God church. After he had preached there for a while the whole congregation as well as themselves felt as if the Lord's directions were indicating they should stay. Following the divine directions of the Lord they moved there in Feb. of 1995.

Brother Burt said that they help the community by telling people about Jesus Christ. After they came to Bonham they started a radio station, he said it was really a translator. He said they receive the radio signal from American Family Radio in Tupelo, Miss, and then they rebroadcast it here. He said, "It gives people encouraging music, preaching and teaching 24 hours a day."

Brother Burt visits people in hospitals and nursing homes. He is also preaching to people through hospice. He speaks of a specific lady who was 95 years old and near death. This lady's family was not sure if she had accepted Jesus. The family called him to come talk to her and see if she had salvation or not, he found out that she had been saved for years. He said that it was a real blessing. Brother Burt believes that what is vital in a leader is, "If a leader is unable to serve those he or she leads, they will never be an effective leader."
