We searched for information about the pioneers listed on this tombstone. Finally, we found a James Haynes. We think that this must be one of the many people buried in this Pioneer Grave site. Mr. Haynes was, as well, one of the Texas State Senaters who signed a note to defeat the "Ordinance of Secession" from the United States during the Civil War, on the 23rd day of Febuary 1861. If you would like to research this information, it is found in the book, A History of Texas: From Wilderness to Commonwealth, by Lois J. Wortham, LL,D. volumn 4 of 5, pages 335-339, published in 1924.
This cemetary is located on the outskirts of Bonham, north east central [Fannia County] Texas. If you would like to see this landmark for yourself, it is located on the left side of highway 898 approxmently 5 to 6 miles coming from the intersection of highway 78 and 898 on the north side of Bonham.
