One: Wolf
I just started carving in Janauary of 1999. Georgia got me a Dremel Model 770 Cordless Rotary Tool for Christmas, and I bought a few carving burs for it. I have since read that the cordless model is not adequate for wood carving, this is boloney. When I began, all I had was some pieces of no name scrap wood around the house, but have since started collecting some local hardwoods and have been given some other varieties by generous friends.
I've graduated to a Dremel Model 732 Heavy Duty Flex Shaft Tool which is a lot faster. It can also turn a nice piece of wood into sawdust a lot quicker. I have much to learn, but have been helped considerably by a friend who has been carving much longer. I also have found a lot of information on carving on the internet and in books and magazines. Here is a photo of a wolf that's four and a half inches tall. It's made from three pieces of scrap laminated to make a blank large enough. I got the idea for the wolf from a magazine cover.
Home will get you back to the main page of Tony and Georgia Grisolia Home Page site. The other links are to other carving pages. You can send mail here. Check out our links page, not too much on wood related topics there yet, but it's a start.
